Baystate Taekwondo Academy was established in 2005 with a mission to bring the rich traditions of Taekwondo to our community. We offer a welcoming environment where students of all ages can learn, grow, and achieve their martial arts goals. John Alves holds a 5th Dan black belt from the prestigious World Taekwondo Organization in Seoul, South Korea. In 2016, he was honored to become the President of the USAT Massachusetts State Organization, where he oversees the annual state tournament, ensuring a high standard of excellence in Taekwondo competitions throughout Massachusetts.
Master Matt Kehoe, a 5th Dan Instructor, has been dedicated to Taekwondo for over 25 years. His teaching style is both motivating and inspiring, making his classes a favorite among our students. Master Kehoe brings a wealth of wisdom and deep knowledge to every session, enriching the learning experience for everyone on the mat.
Master Joe Centeio is a 4th Dan black belt in Taekwondo with over 25 years of experience. His martial arts journey began at a very young age, fueled by a passion for collecting Kung-Fu classics during his childhood. This early fascination has grown into a lifelong dedication to martial arts excellence.
Master Alice DiPace, our Pee-Wee and Tigers/Dragon instructor, holds a 4th Dan certification with Kukkiwon. She is also an International Referee with the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), specializing in both Kyorugi (sparring) and Poomsae (forms). Her expertise and dedication bring a high level of skill and guidance to our youngest students.
Master Nathan Sugioka began his martial arts journey under the guidance of Instructor Clyde Hull and Master Jerry Galloway in Indiana. Since 2001, he has been training at Bay State Taekwondo Academy and its predecessor, Starling TKD Academy. In 2019, he earned his 5th Dan in Taekwondo and a 2nd Dan in Hapkido. Master Sugioka teaches Forms and Advanced Self-Defense classes, expertly combining Taekwondo and Hapkido into practical, effective self-defense techniques.
